Found this button down about 8 inches at an old B&B dating back to the early 1800's. The back mark from what I can read says "R & ? Robinson" along the top and then along the bottom it says "_ _ _ _ A Rich" can';t read the first 4 letters. Looks to me to be Civil War era or shortly thereafter...but I know next to nothing about buttons, also could be WWII era for the Navy was stationed here on the island in WWII as well... Help? :)
Thanks
MD

"R & W ROBINSON / EXTRA RICH" — a mark used from 1834-1848. This is an early Navy button for the type. c. 1848. It's listed as #NA 112A in Albert's button book; #NA 277A in Tice's book. Value range: $30-45.
