My friend haven't joined Tnet yet (computer should be up running soon)
He got this beautiful NC map with some questions:
This map has been in my family for quite some time-acquired by my Grandfather in his travels (he passed away when I was 4 years old and my Grandmother never knew much about where he go it). There is a plaque which says "First original comprehensive map of North Carolina by Dr. John Speed". My parents have recently passed and it is now in my possession and I am curious as to it's origin. I know Dr. John Speed was a cartographer and historian back in the early 1600's but can't find any reference to this map. The writing on this one appears to be identical to the writing on other maps he is credited with.
Any help in authenticating would be greatly appreciated.
