NC Pottery Sherds - What culture made them?

These were found in Randolph County NC. Any guesses what culture/tribe made the pots?

The one on the bottom left curves toward the pattern and the "outside" is smooth. Can anyone imagine what pot design would do that? Here are front and back pics to show what I mean.

Guessing but it looks like check stamped which equals Woodland period
 

The curved piece with the smooth side inside is probably from a curve around the pot maybe near the top is what I think. Your best bet on finding out the tribe or tribes that populated your area may be the museum or any archaeological digs that are near your area. I could be wrong but I'm thinking the Siouxian speaking tribes inhabited the Piedmont regions of NC and a large part of them were Catawba but there were lots more with different names.
