NC/VA Beaches

I'll be visiting Corolla near Currituck area this summer. Anyone willing to point out a few good spots for beachcombing? I'm hoping for older coins. If you're willing to divulge a favorite spot for a guest, I'll gladly share the finds :-)

Outer Banks

Darren,

I have done a little hunting on the Outer Banks. I've been told that the time to go if you're looking for old coins is the late fall/early winter. Or if you're lucky enough to get there right after a storm. I've hunted the Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills beaches in May and June and there hasn't been much turn up. Just some really corroded clads and memorials. There have been a few rare instances though. I once found a 1910 Wheat cent in the wet sand area near the Nags Head pier and I have found a few ship's spikes. Be on the lookout for rings and the like though.

look at the findsmall forums under beach detecting

I would recommend looking at the findsmall forums under beach detecting. Lots of folks from VA and the OBX post there. They seem to be saying alot about to much sand after the hurricane a while back. I would ask those guys.
