Hello all. I got this piece from a friend at work. She claimed it is an actual authentic indian artifact It consist of very small colored beads for the most part with decorative shells on bottom. Questions... What was it used for? How old? and also What could it be valued at? thanks all for your help!!

Howdy olecky,

I'm thinking a contemporary West African necklace. Those appear to be Cowrie shells.

I agree with Surf -- the pattern, color way, and cowrie shells, suggests African beadwork. If someone can ID the suede/hide backing, this may narrow it down as well.
