Found this today at long gone mid 1800s homesite deep in the woods near the cellar hole. I think it is made of brass. It is thin, 1/16" thick. It is convex. The two holes were punched out with square nail, I believe. There are no markings on the back. There is still some white paint in the border. I am convinced the pattern on the front is a snow flake. Thanks.

What are the other dimensions?
As I have no idea as to the size of the coin.
Cheers

AKiwi, the diameter of the modernday US one-cent coin (penny) is .75-inch (approximately 19 millimeters).

This is WAY too small for the back of a drawer pull--unless the drawer was on a wardrobe used by an elf.

It is obviously the back plate from a strap guide on a saddle.

What was the age of the other items found with it? Were any of the items in the 1780-1820 range?

Here's a link. Happy Reading (it's long!).

Thanks Buckles. I do believe the site was active pre 1820 or so due to some of the flat buttons I have recovered. This general area was first settled in the 1740's. Thanks again and HH!
