Just a few blocks from my home is a very beautiful restored home from the late 1890,s i saw the owner standing by his truck so i pulled in his long driveway and introduced myself and asked him if could detect his open field and i explained how i do it plus i told him i just live 2 blocks away from him he said sure i dont care but if i find more then 2.56 i have to give it to him :laughing7: well it turns out by us talking that he lived in the house iam living in now when he was just a kid hes 76 now he told me that my house was moved from the main highway back in the early 1900,s to make room for a new school which by the way is not there anymore it was replaced by a fire department thats been rebuilt 2 times to its present state ,anyway i hunted for about 1 hour just around the small tractor barn i still have a entire field all the property around the house and the tree farm thats been there for 65 years thats a lot of hunting plus he owns 6 more old homes in the area ,that is a good guy to know :hello2: my short hunt got me a 1918 merc a 1905 IH nice and green 7 wheats the oldest being 1926 the merc and IH both were 8 inches deep and a few clads all old 1950,s this place has a lot of potential . Finally i broke the ice and ask someone for permission to hunt that wasn't so hard :laughing9: Good hunting Jim

WHEW! THAT IS ONE LONG SENTENCE! I NEED A BREATHER.

Hi Deepdigger,
I lived in the city when I had a whites 6000D that I'd super tuned and I had to ask permission all the time, I even said thank you to the no's. It is a bit odd to ask someone to detect/probe their yard (most of mine were lawns) but I had some very good experiences And was able to give back to some of the folks that let me detect. I used to mow lawns for elderly people and once a little girl had lost her necklace and I was able to find it for her. From your pictures you have a lot of hunting to do with some good possibilities AND it seems you've six more old places that he will let you tect. Good luck on all of them and keep the posts coming. Herb
