Hi all, I need advise on what to say and ask if I could purchase coin bags off the coin machine. Here's the situation:

I have 2 banks(branches) I deal with:
Wells Fargo: supplies me with my half dollars-no fee
TD bank: supplies me with BRINKS wrapped pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters.
that same TD bank is my dump bank- I know the golden rule, do not dump where you pickup, but they don't mind at all.
-The only reason my TD bank won't supply me with coin boxes is occasionally when they only have enough for their business customers- I have only been turned down 4-5 times in the past 2 years.
-The tellers all know me, and I have conversations with some of them .
-On the friday before memorial day weekend, I was told I could not order coin box the holiday weekend due to demans and they were low, but went back tuesday and got a box of pennies and nickels- The tellers appologized for not being able to supply me with coin last visit.

I just figure bags can be hit or miss, but you have a good chance of scoring when you do. I want to purchase bags off the coin machine which has the following: $25 penny bag, $100 Nickel bag, $250 dime bag, $500 quarter bag, $100 half dollar bag.

I want to purchase the coin bags they get off the machine, but do not want my dumps(I dump ~1 time a week)

What do you think I should do when I go to ask them if I could purchase the coin bags they get off the machine? I was thinking maybe that it would be easier for both of us- they won't have to keep bringing out brinks boxed coins, and the bags are much easier to handle.

-Does anyone else get coin bags off of TD bank machine? If so, how? are they productive? do the tellers mind you asking for bags of coins rather than boxes?

Thanks for reading and all suggestions!

As for TD as far as i know all or most of thier machines reject silver and i have never seen silver in a bag when cahanged in front of me.

I've only found a couple in that same area that will sell them to me.

It depends on how the bank deals with bags. Some of the banks have already "sold" the bags to the vault by the time it comes off of the machine and so they can't easily sell it to you, other banks do it manually later. Your best shot is to hope you have a bag mostly full and then dump and buy the bag. If you are really serious about buying bags, you might want to open up a DBA with something vending as I don't believe that you have to supply much information to open up a DBA, and open it up at a different bank or different branch and dump a small amount of coin then offer to buy the bag, this is common for a lot of vending machine operators to dump what is in their machine then buy the bag rather than buying boxes. Once you do it once though, expect that to be what the tellers expect you to do for the rest of the time you do it, so I'd do it at some bank you don't go to much, and do it only about once every 1-2 months.

My main coin bank sells me whatever extra bags they have off their coin counter. Otherwise they roll them. I could get rolls, if I wanted, but figure my odds are better if they are loose, (one less set of eyes seeing them). Also I told them if I got loose coins, they would be saving money on labor, electricity and the papers the coins are rolled in. And it would be greener for the planet. They agreed.

Hi,

TD is my dump bank. I use four branches in 3 different counties. ALL of them will NOT order halve boxes for me. I continually clog the penny arcades which leads to some very interesting conversations. ALL of the branches told me that the bags get picked up. I have asked to buy the bags and they have said NO. That is just my area tho..... others may be able to do it. Not sure.

This is what i have done. I tell them i have a large vending operation and its easier to buy bags then unwrap the coins and it saves them money for sending it away. I usually get a no but i ask to speak to the manager and they dont mind. I only buy off machines that dont rejects silver. I got 8 silver dimes from the dime bag yesterday. :-) If i pick up dimes and halves at one place i dump quarters, nickles and pennies there and usually pick up the dime bags etc...

I would just go in and ask if you can buy full bags off of the machine. Worst they can say is no, and if they ask why, just tell them your a coin collecto. You don't need to lie to them and make up some story.
