I am currently beating my head against the wall for information on a structure that was burned back during the prohibition era by local and federal law enforcement on or around Mustang island. Apparently the building was built on pylons and was actually over the water. As the story goes the place was burned by law enforcement by accident. I am under the impression there was alot of illegal goods that went through this place, as well as alot of activities that were illegal at that time. So now I am assuming that there would not be any visible signs of this building left. According to the story that I got this was a speakeasy / casino, or gambling house as well as an unloading place for illegal booze. Not real sure, but would love to find out more information and possibly get a location established for some further reasearch. The fella who told me about this place has passed on, and well can't quite show me the spot. Now I cannot seem to find any record of it... Apparently according to the story the only way to get there is by boat, and still holds true today? My father in law was telling the same story as the other fella last week and this has really gotten my curiosity going. Two stories from two different people, that were around that area and were not affiliated in any way, and the stories were identical. Anyway, any help would be appriciated greatly. I have got to say I don't know what is harder... The treasure hunting or the reasearch to get close. I am willing to trade info if need be. Been searching old ports along the trinity river here in texas, as well as some old townships. Old coins mostly, and even some farm equipment. Not rich yet!!!
