need help on this also it's brass it's 1"9/16, found out in the wet sand in 8"deep with the pioneer 505

I'm not sure of all the uses of this type of button. But I have seen them sold on cards in fabric stores at least into the '90's. I'm not saying that all are civilian clothing buttons but it seems that way.
