Help identifying

Found while metal detecting in New York. Weighs .46oz. Found at early 1800"s (maybe older) former home site. Its location was near where I previously found a Draped Bust. Help is greatly appreciated!

If it’s a coin, I don’t think it’s US. What is it made of (lead, pewter,etc)? Perhaps a kids trinket/toy or rustic art piece?

maybe made as a pendant or something to wear around the neck instead of for coinage? I've never seen a coin like that before. cool

Homemade pendant is my guess.

It is indeed cool. My guess is that it's a 'home-made' farm tally of the kind used throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, both for interim payment of workers (to be redeemed at the end of the day/week) and also for purposes such as keeping track of livestock. You may never find a match.

I see a crucifix no matter how its rotated. Could it be religious oriented?

Personally, I doubt it. I'm not specifically seeing a crucifix... just a bunch of lines arranged as a crude star pattern and of no particular significance. Why would a religious item have a crude representation of a horse, anyway, when there are a large number of other things that would be far more appropriate?

Agreed regarding the horse i dunno. It's pretty interesting find as not knowing what it is , is part of the fun.

Looks like flattened lead, maybe a .69 and then it was carved with a crude horse on one side and maybe a wagon wheel on the other. Camp art.

Agreed regarding the horse i dunno. It's pretty interesting find as not knowing what it is , is part of the fun.
