Found this in an area that was setteled in the early 1800's, abandoned by he 1930s at the absolute latest. It is 28 mm in diameter and I swear the letters i can make out are "zeping" or "zzeping". any help would be greatly appreciated. also appears there are remnants of a wreath or something near the letters. at one pint i swear i saw an 18**something date on it, but may be just my eyes playing tricks

Nice save.
If you could post a pic of it next to a modern quarter for scale, that would help.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's either a British or French coin. :icon_scratch:

I looked at this for a while and there's just not enough to gain any traction in the research. All I can add is I don't think there is a 'Z' on it. Do you know the weight?

I took another good hard look and I think we have a winner! Thank you!

Everything lines up including the wreath and the dot after the g.

That is a really great guess. How did you find that match? Nice!

Right? Especially with my misleading reading of the letters. He nailed it
