I believe this is a men's trouser suspender clip from the 1880s-1890s. There is a partial patent date of "PAT. SEP" but can't make out the year and possibly a name on the opposite tong. I believe I see part of it spelling "IMP???????". Could that be IMPERIAL? Thanks for looking.

Yeah, I've tried changing the light angles and intensity but I think the year is corroded away. As for size comparison, it's slightly larger than a 50 cent piece. But I think you are more correct that it's a hoser supporter. Thank you!

For id purposes only I'd rather not talk about it but it looks like a clip my grandmother would have used to hold a feminine product in place. Unfortunately I saw this as a small child and the horror of that image is forever burned in my brain.

May be part of a suspender or overall buckle. Similar to:
