Dug this button yesterday and still trying to ID it, back of button is gone! So no help on maker, civilian or military? Thanks for any help with this ID

Your pic is reversed. Its a civil war era GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) button :)

I must speak up with a correction... it is NOT a "civil war era" button. The Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) was the primary organization for yankee veterans of that war. The GAR did not exist until 1866, a year after the end of the war.

Maybe its one that is worn on a bathrobe while shaving while looking in a mirror.

Just went into the button press backwards.
If so it is defiantly a rear one.
