Dug this button yesterday and still trying to ID it, back of button is gone! So no help on maker, civilian or military? Thanks for any help with this ID

I must speak up with a correction... it is NOT a "civil war era" button. The Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) was the primary organization for yankee veterans of that war. The GAR did not exist until 1866, a year after the end of the war.

Your pic is reversed. Its a civil war era GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) button :)
I'm looking at the button and the picture is not reversed! The button itself is reversed! Here's another picture
