Does anyone know what this is it a hand ax and if so,

what time period it is from?

It measures 7" in length and 4" in width.

I live in New Mexico.

I’d say a hand axe is a good description. In fact, it looks more like an Acheulean artifact from Africa than any Native American artifact.
