Need help on these letter's...

Can anyone tell me what letters might be on this piece I found yesterday at a Civil War Camp.. We're pretty sure its a Brass Wax Seal Stamp.

To a couple of us we think the first letter is an "M"

Yes the picture you posted is upside down, the letters are M P.

Its an actual image picture. Here's the back...the relic measures...5/8ths dia. face & 1/2 in. long. All brass
