Found this by a creek , hoping someone can tell me about it.It's made of copper and it is 2-1/2 long.It appears to be a man driving, with a man and a lady in the back, possibly a baby in the middle?I can't make out any markings on it so far. What ever it is, I wish the little brat who lost it didn't tear it in half and bend it first. It almost reminds me of a old cracker jack prize or something.
I'm not sure if your find fits this category or not, but vintage flat toys like are often called 'flats.' Yours looks to be kin to a Stutz Bearcat.
A friend of mine will boil bent metal objects he finds, then while hot, bend them back in place. I've never tried it for fear it would snap in half. As they say on TV: Don't try this at home! LOL
I looked up Stutz Bearcat, and some are very similar.I couldn't figure out what kind of car it was for nothing.I am gonna have to try that boiling technique sometime, but I can already see a crack on the seem where it's bent and I don't think this one will survive.Once again, thank you for all your help Breezie!joe
I'd guess the two pins that held the sides together (at the top of each wheel) were made of steel, and rusted away, as to how it became separated... which I mention just if the construction of it helps locate similar items.
FWIW, I combed my Cracker Jack ref book and old Dowst catalog and could not find this car or one similar enough to venture that it might indeed be a CJ premium. I agree, tho, it's really cool.
