Need help with ID. Lamp finial maybe?

My boss went out and metal detected an old farmhouse and the surrounding property. Near the old foundation he found this. To me it looks like it could be a lamp finial. It is brass with a silver ( chrome?) plating on the outside. The threads are more coarse than you would see on anything today. I appreciate the help!
