we found this while hunting a house that was built in 1834 with documented history of the union army staying on the property we are unsure of its use or if it is military any help or info is appreciated thank you

I think its a fly lure for fly fishing.... Not sure though...

it is made of brass there is a eagle with breast shield and a star above the eagle it is 3 in tall 1 wide there is a hole at the bottom for water to drain ? thought maybe used as a scabbard tip or flag finial ? thank you

What you have is a War of 1812 Plume Holder! That is an excellent find. Most are found is pieces and it is rare to dig one complete. James
