What is the piece made of, is it heavy?

Really not enough info given to try and ID what it is.

It looks like wrought iron that could of been piece of a lot of things but hard to tell.

My best guess is brass. I hesitate to clean it up as that patina is good stuff and gives it character. I realize I didn't give you guys much to work with. No big deal! In the display case it goes
