Sorry, forgot to put that in the description. I believe they're made out of copper or brass, looks to have a greenish patina on them.What are they made of, lead?
Found these in a field dating back to the 1850s. I found the ones in the picture over two hunts, two seperate days but same field. I've found others in the past but never kept them. Protective caps for someting.. but what?!
Although the caps vary in their dimensions, the "hole" looks like it's the same size diameter on each part.
Unfortunately, that isn't helping me figure out what these were for.
Do you find them scattered everywhere? Or are they usually found in "clumps".
