Can anyone tell me something about why, this is gold in color, and why it has 2 dates stamped into it?

Gold plated, certain private companies took a normal half dollar and plated it and stamped in those dates and sold them as a souvenir.

Its only worth 50 cents but keep it if you think its neat.
