How far back is the site you found dated? It looks like a late 1700's dandy button

Recondigger is right it is a Dandy or Tombac button! I can not tell from the photo and bad lighting in the photo which one it is but dandy and tombac buttons are the same thing basically like a floral or decoration design but tombac buttons have high copper content and mixed in with other other metals or minerals.

Also you want too be quite sure even if it just a regular dandy button that you familiarize yourself with what some George Washington Inaugural buttons look like because there are a few that can make it look like a regular dandy button but it is really not.. If you notice in the photo line up of some GW Inaugural buttons the bottom last row 7th button in.. You can easily dig that button up and just think it is a regular dandy button and this is happen many and many of times with this button.

As stated a dandy button, time for the 'solved' button.

Thanks,I knew it was a dandy or cloak button the moment I dug it.Just wanted to make sure it wasn't anything more valuable.
