Found this token that says "OSA FOREE SLACK WYO" aroud the edge and down the middle are the letters are "FLT". Any ideas?

although not the same type, I think it's one of these.

They had machines at Carnivals, Bus Stations Etc. and for a Quarter you could print whatever on them.

GOOD LUCK TOKEN (used like key Fobs)

I wasn't sure because the dent on the L makes it appear to maby be an E.

I'm Sure it's a Machine "Make your own" Token.

Not sure if yours is an Earlier Type, or just different Company though.

Yep... this piece is a letter-punch machine tag or token. The central design, showing the letters F, L, and T within three links of chain, is a symbol of the fraternal organization known as the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. The letters stand for Friendship, Love, and Truth.

These machines have been around since the early 1900's, and you may have seen them at amusement parks, tourist stops, train and bus stations, etc. The customer inserts a coin and then embosses the token with his name or some other inscription. This is done one letter at a time, using a dial or pointer to select the letter and then pulling a lever to press it onto the token. Many of the token blanks or planchets had cut-outs around the center: star, four-leaf clover, etc.; others had pre-embossed solid centers like this one.

Thanks for the info. I did find this where an old train stop from the turn of the century was located. I anticipate finding much more from the area. I'm pretty sure it is virgin detecting grounds.

The 1900 Census shows Osa Foree living in Slack, WY. He was a farm laborer, born in MO, boarding with a family there. He evidently moved to Montana as he registered for the draft during WWI in Miles City. That document says he was born 18 Jan 1875. The Montana death index says he died 31 Oct 1949. He apparently eluded the census takers in 1910, 1920, and 1930.
