Need info on this spoon, Only one we know of so far is in the yale museum.

It would be a big help to see the manufacturers markings on the back side (just above the junction of the bowl with the handle).

Sorry, I guess its not an antique. It is however a Sterling silver collectible spoon and thats good. :icon_thumright:

I dont think its old and its not for eating. Its a souvenir collectors spoon.

I felt a bit uneasy about this because we never actually dated it other than we knew it wasnt 1700's.

I apologize, as it may indeed be 20th century antique. A search revealed the original F.A. Whelan patent in 1911. So it was made some time after then. For how long they made them, I dont know. The orginal patented spoons should have an Oct. 3, 1911 date or patent number. :icon_scratch: The patent expired in 7 years. A call to the Mount Vernon estate may solve this. Thay may still be sold today as repros of the 1911 patent.. :dontknow:
