Need some help on ID

I detected a little at my mother-in-laws place which was a farm since the early 1900's.
This looks familiar but I don't have a definite idea of what it really is.
Anyone know for sure? Weight is about 1/2 lb. - dug at 6 inches - brass.

That's got to be it!
It's one of the ideas I had.
They used to plow the cotton field with mules.

Yes, this is the end piece of a workhorse hame. The hame would have been made of wood with iron fittings. The end pieces, like yours, were brass. Many of these now find their way onto the top of walking sticks.
