i found this thing ,i am almost positive it is a ring and am puzzled about how old it may be. or if it is just junk, but im not too sure. and is crudely made, i scratched the inside and it is a silvery metal, about size 7. the inside of the ring is heavily scratched, as if someone deliberately scratched out the inside. at first i thought they were threads, like of a locknut.they are not. also on the inside there are 2 small holes on the inside of the band. the pictures hopefully will help.
thank you
Brandon

I'm guessing a home made ring. I'm wondering if those holes could be casting spews.

OK, this is a shot in the dark. Looks like a bearing sleeve to me, by the wear pattern on the inside and the two tiny holes for a couple of drops of oil. From the top view down, the spacing of the little teeth look fairly uniform. What's got me puzzled is the crude design on the outside circumferance. I am wondering if it was some sort of bearing that was pressed down into wood. I dunno. I'll shut up now. LOL
