Detector(s) used
Fisher Gold Bug Pro withh 11" DD Coil
Deteknix Xpointer
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I picked up a used GBpro with Nel Hunter coil.
Is it better than stock Fisher 11"DD coil?

Nothing special if anything. I have both coils and the gbp. Don't buy the other coil if you only have one of them. Either one and the 5" DD is all you need imho.

Cool thanks. I Think I will get the 5" coil if I can find a used one.

One will show up. I think any of the Teknetics gamma series and new F5s will also interchange.

I found a new one ot Kellyco for $135
If I can't find used I will get this along with extra lower rod.

You are correct. My wife has the 5in DD on her Gold Bug and we tested the F5 5in DD and it was identical in air/ground tests and VDI was identical as well. Same coil different sticker as far as I am concerned.

Something else to note... We called a non-TNET vendor just today looking to buy a NEL Sharpshooter or Hunter for the Gold Bug. Wanting a tad more sweep area and depth. He surprisingly advised us to go with the 10x5 DD that Fisher makes for the Gold Bug. His opinion was that the NEL coils worked better on the 7.69khz Greek/Frat series than they do on the 19khz platform. He sells both NEL and Fisher coils and I definitely trust the guy.

Grain of salt as always...
