Nokta FoRs Gold, a Gold Cube, 2 Keene Sluices and Lord only knows how many pans....not to mention a load of other gear my wife still doesn't know about!
I've seen an awful lot of oddly worn rocks come out of our rivers and streams, and if I found that one I'd think I'd have to pause and consider it, as well.
I believe it's natural. But if I needed a net weight, it would work great. Looks like some kind of sandstone, maybe, so axe or club would have a short life. IMO. Cool rock.
Thats a fined grained igneous rock. Maybe diabase?? Thats the right rock for making an ax or Celt or club. And, the groove does look like it was made from pecking. I’m on the fence whether natural are Indian work. I too would have brought it home regardless.
Appreciate all the replies as you guys are the experts.
This is an area with much Native American activity with a salmon bearing river very close. Here is a point that I found a few years back from the vicinity.
I agree. Tough call. Looks to much like pecking to be natural. Natural river worn would generally be smoother in the groove. Could be but I'm leaning toward man made. Either way I would have kept it. Nice point too. I would call that a Lehman from the base.
