Little help please found this, number on my detector is the same as my 24 carrot gold ring?
But how do you tell if real?

Do a streak test on unglazed tile. Do a specific gravity test. OR take it to any miner / prospector !

Notice the color difference between the coin and the lump? Gold is usually gold color. This looks like brass or copper. Try rubbing it on your jeans and see if it brightens up to the same color.
Poke it with a pocket knife. Gold should dent or deform like a lead fishing sinker would. Anything else is much harder and may only scratch.
I cant explain why the detector gave you a gold hit.

You can scratch it on the underside of a ceramic toilet cover....Gold streak or copper streak will probably tell the tale.

Get yourself a gold acid tester off eBay. They are cheap and this won't be the last time you use it!
