✅ SOLVED Never Seen A Bolt like This.

I found this heavy, well made nut and bolt in an area of 1920 era home site. We occasionally find bullets from over-shots from a small civil war skirmish. Before I pitch this is the trash, can anyone answer why this bolt seems to have a locking mechanism and a machined slit cut through it…..

I assume it must be industrial, but I would like to hear from anyone that can tell me the specific usage. What gets clamped down in the slit? Electrical? Cable? I’m not "handy", so I’m stumped

Red Coat is 100 % correct ! As soon as I saw this item I knew what is is ,Ive usd them for atleast 30 years as a electrician .
