I think I will give Giant056 an assist on this one. The other day he posted finding wheats and silver at wooods lake. Its been a while for me since I hunted there and is close to where I work so I took a longer lunch and headed out. First find right along the lot was this F14 pin I thought was neat.

Started walking north and down til I reached the woods park boundary then kept walking down the hill. Lots of trash and only two recent pennies was not what I was hoping for. Then about six feet away from the gate got a strong copper single but 8-10 inches. I figured I could at least get out with one wheat. Well I dug, and dug and it was literally 10+ inches down. When I first saw it, I thought it was a silver dollar until I picked it up and realized it was too light. The dirt had married itself to the coin and I didn't want to rub it too much. I could decipher a clover and figured it was probably a token. Once I got home I washed it up and soaked in olive oil for a while before taking after pics. I cannot find this token anywhere or the Parker Home Furnishing Co. Any help would be appreciated.

1918 - I'll take that anyday. I was searching Kzoo and Grand Rapids. Never thought about Muskegon. Ya, I've been there in the past several times and even hunted the green patch you described before. I think I pulled out about three wheats but never got a silver signal so you did well. Also I found two complete harmonica reeds there yesterday and a old copper cigarette case in about a dozen pieces. Ive puzzled most of it together (about 2/3 is lost forever) and looks like there could possibly be some writing on it - still soaking. I'm hoping that the weather is a little warmer today. Have been itchin' to go to an old swimmin' hole and use my Fisher CZ-20 with newly modified scoop.
Like I said you get the assist on this one as I would have never thought of going back to Woods Lake without seeing your post. Thanks man!

Interesting token & from 1918! Quite a find there MJC.

Neat token. I have never hunted there. Maybe one day I will tag along with a friend from here?

It definately has a history, but like Giant056 says, 'everyone and their brother has hunted there'. you have to deal with ALOT of trash so if you ha ve a sniper coil you may be able to pull out some nice keepers making it worth the trip. I have found alot of stuff on the large hill leading to the lake but it is steep and can be tricky. Over the hundred plus years of people not using the stairs, I'm sure there have been many tumbles in which people loose items. The ground is always quite loose and easy to dig so its a quick on to the next signal type of outing.

Mike I've been told how you'll hunt them muddy areas in the lake and this one would be ideal I think for the silver. One of these days I'm going to break down and buy me a pair of waders cause if you don't use them in the muddy areas at woods lake you'll have blood suckers all over you. It's a really deep lake and has a drop off too which goes straight down.

That big old token is way cool - Congrats!! :hello2:

very cool old token! gotta love those nice deep signals :)

Nice find anywhere and in a place that is hard hit that would make my day, Congrats on the token, 1918 way to go...
