New Camera tryout

I got this Panasonic zs40k at Costco. I took these last night around 8pm heading to Ouray last night over Cottonwood pass. The light is low at this hour and I did lighten & tone them up some. I did note this was the only place in my travel from the front range I could get above the smoke from the fires on the west coast. I still need some time with this camera as it has so many more functions then what I've ever dealt with before. So far I think I like it.

Works pretty good. Smoke is still hanging in here even above 9,000ft., but not quite as bad as it was. Of course the wildfire up in Grand County didn't help any.

I've enrolled in camera college with my Panasonic camera. So far I've only been able to use it on the automatic mode. The local community college is offering a one week course on
how to work a camera, so I jumped at the chance. What lenses did you get with your new camera? Here at home the past couple of days the smoke has been so bad you have to
chew the air to breathe it. I didn't take this picture, but it's about 80 miles up the road from where we live.

This camera isn't an SLR. It's just a better camera then I had before Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 Samples: Digital Photography Review It has more feature then I think I'll ever use, but it's nice and compact and I think I can get some more shots of wildlife that are farther away and other things with a camera I can fit in my pocket. Maybe sometime I'll move up to some more serious gear, but I'll need some tutoring in that regards also. Sure hope that smoke clears up for you folks out there pretty soon.
