Kind of. Plastic bags are still here, but a law passed a couple of years dog that all plastic bags have to be heavy duty enough that they can be reused over and over. The idea is people will bring their own bags when they go shopping. And if you do need a plastic bag, they charge 10 to 25 cents per bag. Paper are the same, about 10 cents each.

In Connecticut, we have to pay for paper and plastic bags, 10 cents plus 2 cents tax, or reusable for one dollar each.

In Missouri our bags are free cause we steal them from Cali and Connecticut.

We outlawed plastic straws too. Now they are paper and make all of your drinks taste like cardboard.

I don't understsnd why we quit with paper bags. At least they broke down easier. Probably because more money in plastic bags.
No telling how many plastic bags leave the local Malwarts. And they sell plastic straws, although I saw these new silicone straws out there lalst week.
When plastic straws are outlawed only outlaws will have plastic straws. Pygmies love them for their poison dart blowguns. I'll give up my straws when they are pried from my cold dead hands!

Did you know that there is a company that that has machines in the oceans and soon to be at the mouths of rivers that extract all plastic from the water. It is believed that it will eliminate the plastic issue in water in like 20 years. They recycle the plastic as well. Once the issue is corrected will California stop taxing for plastic? Lol

It's irreversibly broken.
Do our 'western' governments really think that the solution lies in re-usable shopping bags and electric cars ??... Don't believe a word of it. We are being suckered into accepting responsibility for the actions of government and policy makers... We the gullible consumer, have been played, they play on our morals, on our conscience, on our artificially generated and accepted guilt that our use of products, that are taxed and therefore government sanctioned, is the real problem .. Bullshit..
We now look down on India and China and other huge countries that are trying to get as 'developed' as we are... we did it on the back of oil and coal and excessive consumption, but they are not allowed to catch up, with the same methods.. There is a billion people in each of those countries, come on, really, plastic bags ? paper bags? the problem does not lie with the type of bag in which we carry the real problem..

People need to wake the F up..
