I may hook up with a firearms instructor tomorrow. Someone I have known for a little while. He says it would be smart for me to go through a safety class before purchasing a handgun or rifle. I agree.

Here in California, folks are mandated to take a safety class and written test before we are allowed to purchase a firearm. Then we have to provide fingerprints, have a retina scan, give a sample of DNA, and promise to turn over our first born over to the government. After all of that, we can only buy 10 round magazines. And all of that is assuming that the gun we want isn’t on the state’s “banned” roster. For example, a Colt 1911 can’t be sold here because, well, the state says so.
