Our state lawmakers certainly act like we are. We have higher takes than most other states, more liberal than pretty much everyone else, disagree with some federal laws, etc.

Despite the drawbacks of California, there are definitely some perks that come with living here. Two and half hours to my west I can have my feet in the ocean, less than an hour to my east I can be skiing and building a snowman, about three hours to my north I can be in San Francisco enjoying the cultural offerings and world class restaurants it has, and about three hours to my south I can be riding the matterhorn at Disneyland or seeing celebrities walking around Hollywood and Los Angeles.
