Detector(s) used
BH, Prizm IV, Tesoro Cortez!
Ordered Sunday, arrived today (Wednesday) Joe answered many questions here, as well as private e-mail. I feel I got the right detector for my type of hunting. Only problem is my wife beat me home from work, wrapped it up with ribbons and bows, and placed a prominent "DO NOT OPEN 'TIL CHRISTMAS " tag on it ! (sigh) :( Here's to an early spring thaw :coffee2:

Thanks again Joe

Jim - That's awesome!! Great choice! That machine is sweet! Even better, you get a gift you actually WANT for Christmas . . . Well, Joe is the man when it comes to Tesoro - his advice is spot on! Too bad you can't use it now - I would hate that feeling. Oh, well - For now you can read up on all the field tests on the machine - if you haven't already. I can't wait to hear all about your impressions of the machine. I guess we have to wait until Dec. 25th though!

This next spring we should meet up for a hunt or two - I'm in clarkston - I got a couple guys near me that hunt old sites all spring/summer/fall/ and most of the winter! We can see that Cortez in action!

Congrats,

Ian

Thanks Ian, I'm pretty stoked! It seems like I've been doing nothing but reading field tests and whatever I can find about the Cortez. I guess a couple more weeks won't kill me.
Thanks for the offer to meet for a hunt with you guys! I'd like that very much. Reading is one thing, but getting out working with the new machine makes things stick in the ol' brain much better. Good luck and Happy Hollidays my friend

I just started looking at Tersoro. Could someone tell me who Joe is or a link. Thanks

You know your new Tesoro is light enough to be removed from it's package. And she'll never know, if you get caught you can blame it on me.

Hey, tell her you forgot to take the batteries out of it or you need to look at the owners manual or you need to send in the warranty card or.......you get the picture. LOL :D

Welcome new Cortes owners. I've been using one about 2 years now. Nice machine, real easy to use, no pushpads. Some of my observations: Accurate coin ID to 6 inches deep. Goes at least 7 inches on coins in Disc mode, deeper in All Metal. Good for gold jewelry too. The ID numbers seem to match up with the SUM mode sounds, the higher the number the highr the SUM pitch, so I don't need to use SUM, don't need it. Notch blocks out many gold rings. Here is a label I had to make for easier meter reading. Used MicroSoft Excel. If you make one, adjust the Row heights to get the label to match up with the meter bars, then cut it , turn it sideways and apply with Scotch tape. HH, Tykit Cortes Meter.webp
