What I have learned since starting is there really is no one detector for all situtations, although some do better then others...Detectors are like golf clubs, diffferent one for different situtations.. In my opinion the ideal setup is a good water detector and a good land detector.
I have to admit I am bias towards Minelab, I have 2 Sovereign GT's and an Excal 1000, but I also have a Whites 6000 XL PRO (my playground machine ), Fisher 1235X (my competition hunting machine), Troy X2 Shadow and a Tesoro Conquistador.(Both for sale) I enjoy buying and playing with detectors then I sell them and buy something else to play with..........
In my personal opinion one of the best "all around" machines is the Sovereign GT. It is a fantastc beach machine, fresh or salt, all the way down in to the water, but it's not water proof and yet it is still a great land machine.
