The Pacific coast seems to preserve a lot of these wooden vessels. The stories of this wreck seem to change as people find stuff in different places. I think it's between Eagle Rock and the headland where they find a lot of pottery. There was a huge barge that sunk there at one time and may disturb or cover the wreck. The Spanish looked for this wreck for a couple of years and did not locate it. The 1700 earthquake and tsunami seem to have broken it up more and distributed the lighter wreckage. The wax and top deck would have been the first to go, as beeswax was carried atop the main deck in large chunks. This is written in Schurtz from Spanish records as being "very rich" as several prominent families sailed on it and it is inferred that they carried bullion, coins or had converted their wealth to trade goods.
