Yes, the Excalibur II should be out soon, like Dec.

It has a larger hydride battery, Lighter coils, improved signal response for even better use in saltwater.

Suggested price will be $1,395.97 and the lowest dealers can sell them is $1,198.97 if I remember right. I got this info from Max. There are still a limited number of older Excals in stock at the lower price of near $950.00.

The Sov Gt is almost like the Excal in that it has Iron Mask, but you can turn it off. True all metal with fixed and GB tracking and a notch control.

This is Price Fixing plain and simple. There are federal laws against this.

White's Electronics was embroiled in a Federal suit quite a number of years ago by trying to tell dealers how much they could sell the machines for. And as I recall Sony was too.

Why hasn't Minelab been told by the Feds that they can't fix selling prices in a free trade economy?

I knew when they lowered the price on the ..Excalibur.. that something was cooking. ==Jim==

As I understand the price fixing, I don't think it applies to companies outside the US. The office in Los Vages is a repair center.

Have you noticed that ALL the metal detector dealers have the same price or just a couple dollars difference on each detector? To sell below the set price means they could lose the ability to order any more of that brand detector.

As a White's dealer, we are not told by White's at what price to sell at. Except we can not list prices on a web site or sell on any auction sites. But, we can sell below cost, without any coercion, if so inclined.
Tesoro does not tell a dealer at what price or threaten to pull a dealership. They simply SUGGEST that to maintain the cost of overhead and a reasonable profit, you shouldn't sell below xxx $.
On the surface, Minelabs policy seems illegal to say you will sell at this price or else.

To get back on the new Excalibur, any specs or pictures on it yet?
Redesigned control box, selectable frequencies, lighter weight, etc. etc.?

I've been saving for sometime now. Water detecting really intrigues me. But that's alot of jack to shell out to get little return on the money.
I'm gonna have to count on you to give an honest review, kinda like Badger does with the land detectors.

It was my understanding that in order to get the franchise to sell Minelabs you have to agree before hand not to sell below a certain price. If you do not agree to that then you don't get the franchise.

What is left up to the dealers are the freebies that can be included with the units, which I believe probably removes any true price fixing as far as the law is concerned. They the dealers set the "value" of the freebies they give which usually isn't the true value of them.

Unless the Excall 2 walks on water compared to Excal, I will not be rushing out to buy them. I'm happy with the Excal now. I will not rush out to buy a new unit just to get a few small updates, changes or advantages.

weight is not a problem for me, battery is not a problem

Dealers get burned this way. I live in California and pay about 8% sales tax but if I buy over the internet I dont pay sales tax so I will save about $80 when I dont buy from my local dealer. If my local dealer was able to match this lower price I would buy from my local dealer.

price fixing you say !! you dont know the meaning of the word !! ,

we really do get ripped off in LITTLE OLD ENGLAND !! $9--$10 a gallon of petrol !! that same excalibur will cost us almost double what you have to pay in the states !!! I think it will be about £1100 to £1200 when its made available ?? up to now we have had very little info about the new lime green thing yet,

p.s please let me know if anyone coming to England in the near future you could be my Father Christmas ??????????? wink wink
