I am eyebrows deep into collecting Mexico/Spanish Colonial coinage... (it is a VERY deep well to fall into and I don't recommend it).... Here are my new favorites, 3 of a series of 4, (the fourth I will never have, too rare). These are one real size token/coin/medals...(Mexico did that a lot). The obverse is Agustin de Iturbide a Mexican military commander and politician who became the first Emperor of Mexico in 1822. The coins are proclamations of allegiance to him and the Mexican empire. These three are Guatemala, Nicaragua and Chiapas, (which at the time was part of the Captaincy General of Guatemala and not Mexico). These coins illustrate the short period of time when all of Central America was part of Mexico.

Very interesting and congratulations for delving into a lesser known area of numismatics. When you get into coins like these you're more than a collector you're a true numismatist. It's quite a shock when you first stray from mainstream US coin collecting where every coin has a known mintage, where and when it was designed, worth $xxx in xxx grade. I've been dabbling in medieval French coinage where there seems to be way more unknown than known information! References are incomplete, hard to find and expensive when you do! You have to study the coins themselves and do a lot of detective work!

ho, ho... yes indeed! French stuff... German and Dutch etc.... forget even starting THAT!
