Hello all! I'm 53 years old and have been into metal detecting, relic, artifact, rock and mushroom hunting since 1975. I live in Lakeview, which has a comparatively short history, as this area was not settled until the 1860's, by farmers and ranchers, not gold miners, so most settlers were dirt poor. BUT...I'm within 4 hours of the great gold fields of the Rogue, Applegate and Illinois rivers, the Klamath and Smith Rivers, and the Siskiyou and Trinity areas. I'm also within 4 hours of Nevada's Black Rock desert, Rye Patch Reservoir and the famous Virgin Valley opal mines. I'm within 6 hours of the Sumpter area, and Silver City and Boise Idaho, as well as the motherload country with the Feather, Yuba, American and many more rivers steeped in gold history.
The only problem is that I'm not at all what anybody would call wealthy, and I find my time constantly occupied with the burdens of everyday life, when what I really want to do is prospect and explore and DISCOVER.....WHATEVER there is to discover! I've been "lurking" on this site for a while, and I like the culture and attitudes of the members, so I finally joined, and I'm looking forward to sharing this wonderful hobby with all of you!
