New gold rush in NC

A second gold rush is under way in North Carolina.

Record prices for the flashy metal and a rich find just over the border in South Carolina and North Carolina are driving a quiet boom in exploration and land acquisition for a mineral that played a huge role in the state's early history.

Mining and exploration companies, many of them from Canada, are leasing mineral rights to thousands of acres in the Piedmont south and west of Charlotte.Will this hurt the weekender?

If any good prospects are found,every other fence post will have a keep out/no tresspassing signs..your state will require a permit for everything,including breaking wind.You will however be able to pan in a state pay facility...if you remove your shoes and socks.Once it starts,there is no end to the regulations.Enjoy it now.
