I posted a little in the introduction thread about how I was cleaning out a shed with my gf and her mom and found 3 metal detectors.

I haven't had a chance to test them out yet and one is missing both battery packs. I was just wondering if any of them would be good for a beginner. I'm 99% new to metal detecting. I used to do it when I was 12 or so, had a cheap $99 detector. Found a fork one time lol

The newest looking one is this one. Just says pioneer 505 on it.

The next one is a Garrett gta 350

Looks like it's in great shape.

And this one was just pretty awesome looking. White's Coinmaster, has the model in one of the pics. It doesn't seem to have the battery packs but they might just be in the shed somewhere.

As gimper says, the old whites is 40+ yrs. old. Dates to the very early 1970s. A dinasour by any means. About the only machines with any value, are the Garretts.

Yeah the white's said 72 I believe. I was just uploading that for nostalgia value. I'll try out the garrett and pioneer. Good to know they're decent for a beginner.

That coke cooler is pretty sweet, it's got a little attachment on one side so you could pop your coke bottle caps off and it catches them. I've never opened it though. Probably full of brown recluses

Of the 3, the garrett is your best bet. The Whites is a collector piece, and Bounty Hunters in general are pretty crap, similar to something you'd find from Radioshack or Walmart. Wouldn't be bad to let a younger family member use it though, they're cheap and decent for young kids to start out with.

That Coke Cooler is probably worth a few grand btw, get it restored and you'll make enough off it to possibly get a very high end MD. Don't sell it for less then $2,000 as it sits right now. ;) :coins::3barsgold:
