New Guy! Looking for detecting buddies

Hi all,
Well I have always wanted to get into Metal Detecting and finally have the time. I recently retired from the Fire Service due to an injury and have plenty of time now. I was fortunate to be able to pick up a XP Deus. I have only went to a couple of my local parks and up to this point have not found any old coins.

I live in Newman Ca, which is near Modesto. I am looking for some fellow Detectors to explore and hopefully learn from.

If anyone is willing to let me tag along I would appreciate it, I don't mind traveling as I'm not sure what's available in my area

Welcome from WA state Ken. Look into local clubs in your area for buddies and advice. I was in a similar situation, went alone for several years trying to teach myself and still was looking to get to better spots and learn a little more. I just joined a club this past January and I am so glad I did. My finds have tripled using the tips and leads with the club plus I am ending up with a ton of coins and relics from the club raffles held every month. Good luck and happy hunting!
