Hey guys fresh out of the woods from my old foundation. Only my 4th time out and these are my first musket balls. I don't have a micrometer so I'm sure i.d. Would be difficult. Two are pretty white but one seems to be different composition. No idea what the other two items are. I found the round disc about 5 minutes before I had to leave. It was actually hidden between two stones in the foundation . I didn't even know if it wS a coin when I got it out and didn't think I would ever be able to see any detail. But as I started to get some of the crud off I can see what I believe is a mans head and I can make out the letter GIVS. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot for helping the new kid :-)

Sorry here's the pic

You definitely have a coin there. Nice finds.

Sounds like you found a King George copper. The name Georgius would appear on it. Not sure which KG it is. Hard to tell with your pics. Would need to see a close pic. Nice finds.

Sorry bout the pics guys it's in pretty rough shape. All I can make out is a head facing to the right. Still working on making it more visible. I will get better pics up. Here's where it's at right now

I wouldnt do anything else to clean it. Find someone who knows coins and ask them to look at it. You could actually ruin whats there if you clean it wrong.

Thanks for the advice. I actually decided the same thing . Don't wanna screw it up. :-)

Judging by that second picture I'm thinking it actually might be a William III halfpenny. It's either that or a George III halfpenny.

Hey Evolution ,
Definitely a George. If you could take a peek at this last pic that'd be great. I appreciate the help. Not sure if the silhouette tells you anything. Thanks again for your help( and your patience with a newbie with a lot to learn )

Awesome find! to me it looks like George III

I see what you mean Ahab8. Much clearer in that picture. It definitely says Georgivs. KG III it is then. Awesome!!

Does the oval lead piece have a small hole running through it ? if so I call it a loom weight, or that's what I've been told they are (for weaving.)

You got a good spot there, go dig more.

It sure does Rick. Thanks man! This forum is amazing. I'm so glad I found you guys. I swear you guys know what everything is.

Awesome digs, that coin and the weight are really good finds !!

Keep @ it and HH !!

Thanks MUD it's a miracle that I found the coin. It was sandwiched between two of the foundation stones

real nice finds, :icon_thumleft: HH!

KGIII, but judging from the reverse, Looks like an Irish half penny. Reverse looks like the remains of a harp instead of Britania. Interesting that you found it between 2 stones. My Ryder 6 Vermont was found the same way. Alot of detectorists do not detect the walls of a foundation, or the inside walls. But I have found several coins by doing this. These little crevases were nice spots to hide valuables. Congrats....................Hogge

Coin is not going to clean up any better than it is right now.

Great find for a first coin! Just got out yesterday with a new detecting buddy. His VERY FIRST coin was a 175...,either 3 or 5, CFT., KGII. Yours actually appears that it may be a Regal Irish half penny. Regal meaning, not CFT, but made by "The Crown".

Thanks for all of the good info Hogge. Yeah I was really psyched to find that between the stones. It was at the very end of the day and I was happy to leave there with a coin . Tell your buddy congrats and thanks again. You have all been very helpful and encouraging
