Hi everyone, my name is Tim and I'm totally new to metal detecting. I live in Lakewood, Ohio and have been an outdoorsman since dad began taking me into the Cuyahoga Valley National Park as a young kid. I spend a lot of my time hunting as well as Shed Antler Hunting (looking for shed whitetail deer antlers), mostly because I love finally coming across something after spending hours, days and even sometimes weeks looking for them. I stumbled upon an article online and began reading a bit and watching some videos to see if Metal Detecting would be something id be interested in and I cant get enough of it! I have 4 properties in Medina and Cuyahoga Co. that I have permission to hunt on and plan on asking if they would mind if I did some detecting too.

I did some research over the last couple weeks and decided to purchase an ACE 400 that came with an AT pointer as well as a pair of headphones and I purchased a digging trowel. I already have a nice compact shovel (that I actually found while out looking for shed antlers), that I plan on using as my mail shovel. I hope to be able to field some questions to you guys on how to become a better detector after I get the basics under my belt. I plan on getting out Friday afternoon for the first time so needless to say, I'm excited to get out and do some digging!

I look forward to being a part of the forum and chatting with you guys.

Tim

Welcome Aboard Tim! Take a look at Sub-Forums: Ohio for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

Tim, welcome to TNet! There's a ton of great people and information on this web page so don't be afraid to ask any questions. Good luck on your first day out and be patient. You will be amazed how much metal is in the ground so make sure you remove whatever you dig up and fill in the holes. Many times there will be a nice find resting next to some trash. Let us know how you are doing.
