[HGFM]

Hi all. I am interested in finding and digging bottle dumps in the Alton, IL area and surrounding counties. Much great old 1800's history here. I am wondering if there are any established groups in my area. I am retired, have a degree in Anthropology that I never was able to use professionally and used to be an avid arrowhead hunter when my kids were little and went with me. I do have a metal detector that I am learning to use. I have been looking at Sanborn maps and contemplating potential places to go to seek permission. I view this as a must and also believe recovering history is exactly that. I am not interested in selling what I find as much as studying what was here. I have worked with various museum collections in the past and will lovingly curate material I find. I would be interested in talking with like-minding people. Thanks and regards to all.
