So earlier today I went to a park right down the street from my house and found a 1788 mass common wealth cent I went back a few hours later and found a very small copper coin right next to where I found the first and this button that appears to have an eagle holding arrows. I don't think ill be able to identify the smaller one , unless anyone knows of very tiny copper coins.

Ok added pics of the small coin cleaned, (wouldn't of cleaned it but it was complete toast) this is the only side that shows any kind of detail and its hard to make out, looks like the pyramid on the back of the dollar bill with the detached point.

Also the back of the button, in going back to this place tomorrow and hitting it hard for 8 hours, literally found this stuff in a 10 ft radius along with square nails lotsss of square nails

Nice finds. Doesn't seem to be much detail on that small copper... maybe a token of some sort? I might try soaking it in peroxide for a bit. Certainly not gonna make it any worse.

Very nice find! Not many comments for an excellent coin. Unfortunately the active members of TNet would rather see a Mercury Dime spill than a terrific colonial state copper.

Keep it up!

Great coin man...love it:icon_thumright:

Haha I was shooting for silver, I was expecting to pull out a half dollar , but this is just as cool. Going to be hard for me to beat 1788. There's gotta be more old coins and possibly silver in the area

Nice ! That and the Ny coppers are at the top of my wish list.Could we get some better close up's of the small coin ?

I would gladly trade a bunch of my silver finds for a colonial copper! Haven't managed to find one yet!
Nice find, Dan!

Now Now Neil, while I wouldn't mind a stack-o-mercs there's no way I would kick that Mass cent out of my bag!
Truly nice looking cent. Makes me want to get out that much more!

Very nice Mass state copper. Don't see too many posted.

Great job on digging a Mass copper:icon_thumright:

Nice find!! Ever find out whether it has a period after mass.? There are two variteys. H.H.=ED

Hey kieser, at this point there's nooo details visible on it haha I'm trying to pull some kind of detail out of it. It's smaller than a penny and found in close proximity with the 1788 and at same depth about 7" so I'm guessing same age

Trying not to do much to it haha I can't tell just yet, ALOT of people say olive oil so I may try that and just let it sit for a week.

Awesome coppah! That button is beautiful as well.

Great stuff. Close-ups of the tiny "coin" would be helpful, of both sides, in good strong light. Also diameter and thickness measurements would help. Are you certain it's not a flat button?

The eagle is a Navy button, but I need to see the backmark to know the age. Or is it an iron backed button (rusty)? Be sure to read my topic in cleaning and preservation on "How to Clean Buttons."

GREAT stuff there! Colonial is where it's at!

Yea next time I get one its coming out of the dirt and into a frame lol I rinsed it lightly and it already lost some detail , and that little coin has a pyramid or a triangle on it weird trying to look it up now

GREAT MA Copper. I'm waiting for the day when my coil passes over one of those beauties. Nice work!
